Susan Beall brings more than 25 successful years of financial leadership experience to Matlock’s board of advisors. Her success includes working in mergers and acquisitions and with Wall Street banks to help companies achieve business growth and financial goals. In addition to co-founding WSL Consulting, Beall serves as a CFO for several companies she partially owns, helping them grow and build value.

Beall is the CEO of WSL Consulting, a financial management company providing outsourced accounting and CFO level strategic consulting with a focus on early- to mid-stage companies in the technology and government markets.

One of her first roles as CFO was with an intel-based company, CSSi, that eventually grew and sold to Nichols Research and later to CSC. She later joined the CEO for another endeavor building and selling a company. In 2004, Beall and her partners sold Trios Associates, a systems engineering firm, to SAIC. After this integration, the management team formed WSL Consulting with the purpose of helping organizations learn more about how to achieve financial success, grow, execute and build value.

Beall has significant practical experience in business valuations and financial modeling. Through her career, she has completed numerous M&A transactions for government contractors and has spent several years working with a high-tech company (Mentor Technologies) raising debt and equity rounds and preparing for an IPO. Beall was CFO during a period of 100 percent CAGR in revenue, with more than 600 percent increase in valuation over a two-year period.

In addition, Beall has also directly supported government agencies such as NOAA/NWS, the Intelligence Community, the DOD, the FAA, among others to assist with acquisition decisions and business case analysis.

She has played a key role in the financial rescue and turnaround of two organizations, moving each from troubled debt with lenders to positive cash flow from operations. Beall has a strong technology focus, such as innovating a company virtual information system that provides web-based forecasting and graphical performance reporting. This information system provides clear visibility into key financial and operating metrics throughout the organization.

Beall holds a master’s degree in finance from the Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, and has earned her Certified Public Accountant certification. She is a member of the Board of Advisors for GovConnects, an association focused on the cyber security industry and other federal contracting activity in Maryland.
