Jeffrey Grieco is an independent foreign policy consultant with senior leadership experience within the U.S. government and private sector, providing a unique mix of U.S. foreign policy, international business development, congressional and public affairs, international assistance and national security expertise. As an advisor to senior executive management teams, he provides strategic marketing, communications and government relations services to U.S. and international corporations and nonprofit organizations. Utilizing an extensive network of contacts, Grieco meets frequently with administration and congressional leadership and staff concerning U.S. foreign and international assistance policies, especially as it relates to authorization (policy) and appropriation (budgeting) for U.S. assistance and related foreign policy and national security issues.

Previously, as a U.S. Senate-confirmed appointee as Assistant Administrator for Legislative and Public Affairs at the U.S. Agency for International Development/U.S. Department of State, Grieco managed all agency strategic communications, media and public affairs and congressional relations worldwide. In this role, he served as the administrator’s official representative for all public and media affairs and public diplomacy activities involving USAID and was the agency’s lead public affairs representative at global meetings and conferences dealing with USAID’s role in the reconstruction operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Liberia and in response to major global crises and humanitarian disasters. His portfolio dealt with issues as diverse as USAID’s $20+ billion humanitarian and development portfolio and programs in more than 70 countries.

Grieco also served as USAID’s senior representative on various interagency and policy coordinating committees (PCCs) and working groups dealing with strategic communications, public diplomacy and public affairs including the administration’s Iraq Stabilization Group (ISG), Muslim Outreach Coordinating Committee and the Joint Policy Council of the Department of State and USAID. He has been awarded numerous agency awards including a Superior Unit Citation, Superior Group Award, Meritorious Unit Citation and several Meritorious Honor Awards.

Prior to joining the USAID, Grieco served as international government relations counsel for major multinational corporations such as Westinghouse, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Hyundai, AT&T and many other corporations providing services in 25 countries. He was an associate fellow at Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, where he focused on U.S. Foreign Policy.

Grieco is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service Studies where he obtained a master’s degree in foreign relations in 1986. He received a fellowship for graduate studies in comparative international management at Oxford University’s Templeton College. His undergraduate degree is from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. He is proficient in Korean and French. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Society for International Development (SID) and the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce (AACC).
